My love for babies started young…

As a child I loved dolls (I even tried to breastfeed them!) - I was totally infatuated with babies, telling anyone who’d listen “when I grow up I want a job where I can work with babies”. I realised this dream in 1992, when I’d completed a Bachelor of Nursing and began my first rotation on the high dependency paediatric ward at a busy Sydney hospital. I continued nursing in paediatrics until I became a midwife in 1997 - my midwifery career has focused on the postnatal period which is a true passion of mine. In more recent years, I’ve been working as a Maternal Child Health Nurse and have obtained certification as an Internationally Certified Lactation Consultant.

I have lived and worked in Geelong since meeting my husband on an African safari and now call myself a local after residing here for 22 years. I have two sons, who are now adults so I totally understand the parenting journey. I enjoy working closely with families, and really value the one on one time I can give to parents. Many people close to me say it’s my hobby, not my job! 

I am genuine, respectful, optimistic and offer empathy to all my families. I have a practical, no fuss approach, keeping it simple focusing on your needs and what you’re aiming to achieve. When helping you establish or maintain breastfeeding I use a hands-off approach, with lots of encouragement and reassurance. This ensures when I leave, you have confidence and can continue to practice what feels right for you. I find home visits offer flexibility to work in with your busy day and ensure the resources you already have become the tools we work with.

I am pleased to say most of my clients find they have alot more confidence after one visit, however I am happy to visit as many times as you feel you need. Every parent and baby is important to me so follow up support in the days or weeks after my visit via phone call or text forms part of my service.
