ANTENATAL BREASTFEEDING PREPARATION

Not just for first time parents, this one hour consultation (ideally around 36-37 weeks gestation), offers the opportunity to connect before your baby arrives. 

Perhaps you’ve had a challenging breastfeeding journey previously and you’re feeling anxious or apprehensive - this catch-up allows an opportunity to discuss the experience and implement a plan for moving forward with positivity. 

During your consultation, conversation around what you do or don’t need for breastfeeding, what to expect in those first hours, days and weeks with your breasts and baby and if you wish, a lesson in hand expressing colostrum is included.

Antenatal breastfeeding consultations are offered at the Thrive office which is located at 237 Roslyn Road in Highton. If you are unable to travel a home visit can be arranged for an additional fee. Antenatal breastfeeding consultations can be one on one, (partner or support persons welcome) or small group sessions can be arranged.

Antenatal consultations are tailored to prepare you before your baby arrives. A postnatal consultation offers guidance and support once your baby is in your arms. Both consultations offer guidance on breast or bottle feeding and pumping based on your preferences.

Pumping consultation
Guidance on pumping and a chance to trial Bubka, Mumilk, Lacevo and Spectra pumps. Bring your own pump for specific guidance.

Please note: consultations exceeding the allocated time will incur an extra fee of $25 per 15 minutes over time
